I am considering purchasing a Google TV Streamer 4K as my TV and Sky access to streamers such as Netflix, iPlayer, Prime, ITVX and others are very slow. ITVX for example can take over a minuter to go from selecting Apps on the Sky controller to getting to the point where i can select a program to watch.
My qustion relates to the use of both the Google Streamer box and the Sky Plus box. My TV will have two signal sources - the Sky dish feeding my Sky Plus box, the internet ethernet cable feeding the Google Streamer and both feeding their signals to my TV. To do this will require two controllers - one for Google and one for Sky.
Do I have to switch one or other off according to what I want to watch or can my Sky Plus subscription be made available via the Google streamer so that can I generally use just the Google controller. Or less likely, use the Sky controller to control both.
While I am above average when it comes to IT and dealing with computers, I have never really got in to TV options. I bought a TV and the shop got things going for me! Also at 85 getting to grips with this TV technology is a bit hard.
Thanks for your help.

I'm confused by your opening sentence as your Sky+ Box doesn't have access to any of the Apps you list (or any Apps at all)

When I press the Home buttom (House icon) on my Sky controller I can select from a lit of options that appear on the left, Amongst these is Apps. Selecting that option brings up several options on the main screen such as Netflix, iPlayer, Prime, etc. Selecting any one of these, after a lengthy delay of around 20 - 30 seconds, brings up access to the streaming option.
I'm sorry, as I said in my first post, my knowledge of TV tech is very low. On the basis of my much better IT knowledge it appears that the selection triggers the loading of an app, such as lets say, ITVX, which in turn runs on my TV and access iTVX programmes.
Hope that makes more sense! Thanks for taking the trouble to follow up on my question, confusing though it was.

I should have added that there is a small black box with the Amazon logo attached to one of the HDMI ports.

In that case you either have Sky Q (via satellite dish) or Sky Stream (via internet)

The former - Sky Q. I feel an idiot not knowing that!
As I said, when it comes to TV, someone who knew whatthey were doing installed the boxes. I just press the buttons, but when it comes to upgrading via to better streaming facilities, I seem to be on my own, hence my call for help to you guys!

That sounds like an Amazon Fire TV device so you can access apps on that ... you don't need to waste money on a Google device ... to access apps another way🤔
