There is a small selection of programmes on peacock, no controls or films and menus

Peacock is effectively dead on Sky in the UK. The US version of the service is very good. I'm currently loving director Rian Johnson's new series Poker Face on there - it's superb.

HI @Rickiboi
I have merged your post with an existing discussion on this topic.
I think it is worth checking out the link that @RobertS83 has posted earlier

To me this pretty much confirms the UK service is dead,

It'll be interesting to see who wins the bid for it in the UK - it's bound to be quite sought after as it's getting tremendous buzz in the US (rightly so) and has already been green lit for a second season.

I think the issue here is that they were winding down to launch fully in the UK, but have seen the poor general take-up of Discovery+ and Paramount+, gotten cold feet and now it's in limbo. (remember they're having to give them away to us - paying subscriber numbers are said to be awful)

Peacock is a Comcast owned service and Sky is a Comcast owned service , you don't need both in the UK , also Peacock has no brand awareness in the UK unlike Sky.

Fair comment. Comcast could have chosen to rebrand Sky altogether but sometimes the right brand for the right region matters. Maybe they came to the same conclusion with Peacock. After all, it's a reference to the peacock in the NBC logo which is a bit out of context here.
I find it odd that Sky hasn't given it's On Demand library a brand (again) though - seems "On Demand" doesn't do it justice in a world of names like "Plus" and "X" and indeed "Peacock".

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWith the name recognition in Europe of Sky, rebranding Sky as peacock would have been a very expensive and very stupid thing to do, to go from a brand with near Universal name in the uk to virtual unknown.
If someone in the Comcast marketing department thought that would be good idea, I'd be thinking they need a change in career.
Indeed in the European markets where sky didn't have a presence, the launched as Sky Showtime the Comcast and Paramount joint venture launched as Sky Showtime

In Africa aswell, Sky and NBC Universal are partnering with Multichoice to relaunch Showmax Powered by Peacock technology platform (not the name)

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThere's a sneaky joke in S4E6 of 'Paradise PD' (first aired Dec 2022) where Peacock is re-launched 'because nobody noticed the first time'. It gets closed down moments later.

@TimmyBGood lol, very good. Certainly nobody noticed in the UK, it's been a bit of a disaster I think it's fair to say.
P+ and Discovery + have been useful additions to the app section and do add content and benefits but Peacock just didn't work and with the Sky tie up, in hindsight was unnecessary . An attempt to add value in face of the Disney content loss perhaps but it just hasn't worked.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it was a disaster given how low key it was - keeping it on the Sky platform as a brand tile was probably a safe way to see if the Peacock brand had appeal and whether there was a audience for the NBCU catalogue as a proposition in itself. I will hazard a guess and say probably not!
Given that we're seeing more NBCU catalogue being licensed to Netflix, Amazon, Freevee and ITVX it seems reasonable to think the NBCU catalogue is better served monetised than brigaded to one owned and operated platform.
IF Bel Air is the first of several NBCU owned Peacock titles to appear on Sky I would guess that they think that newer shows are better served and exposed across the mothership European brand and the older stuff better served by licensing <removed> it!
