How do I control and watch my Skybox recordings abroad, similar to Slingbox which is about to be made redundant

I'm not aware of any similar hardware appliance (it appears that Sling Media has basic patents) or perhaps it's just that no-one now sees a market big enough to justify manufacture of such a device in the era of streaming apps.

You'll find multiple articles on this topic published over the past couple of years, but most are specific to US cable TV and direct satellite viewing: Slingbox market penetration in the UK was pretty minimal.

@Eddy+Bial to answer your question to watch recordings abroad you would need to download them to your phone or tablet as for controlling them I don't think Sky Go works abroad now due to brexit

Sling Media is owned (and being closed down) by Dish Network Corporation and they do have a current product with 'Sling' functionality, but it's specific to their own satellite broadcasts (to continental USA) and their own-brand DVR.
