Re: Sky cable broken
Note the satellites are miles above the earth in orbit so do not have cables connecting to each user 🙂
Please answer the following question so that your thread can be moved to the correct place, where you're more likely to get help with your query
Which Sky TV Service do you have?
- Sky+ (Satellite box)
- Sky Q (Satellite box)

Yes we know. Sky+ or Sky Q? Your reply determines the correct advice.

Oh c'mon, no need for this!
"Note the satellites are miles above the earth in orbit so do not have cables connecting to each user"
Clearly the OP doesn't know tech well. This is just disrespectful, nor do I think one needs to know if the system is a Sky+ or Sky Q for a cable.
A simple link to Amazon or eBay would have justified.

If it's Sky Q, Sky will come and fix it. If it's Sky+ they won't. So very relevant!

OK, I admit it, I didn't know that. But my other point stands: "Note the satellites are miles above the earth in orbit so do not have cables connecting to each user" is inappropriate, especially for any superuser.

Again, someone not familiar to tech wouldn't get that. I'm not touchy. It's just if you're willing to help, well then help. The comment does not help anyone, not even yourself.
Imagine we're face-to-face talking about rocket science, and you're asking me about a specific question without knowing rocket science, and then I make a joke, how would that make you feel? In person, I would assume you would feel embarrassed and like you thinking "why did I even bother to ask if I was going to get a silly response or be joked about?".
I'm just trying to get you to see from OP's point of view. It's not about the joke itself. It's the fact you made a comment about satellites while clearly knowing they meant the satellite dish. How do you know OP's native language is English or their health is OK?
I'm just saying "read the room" more. They did their best to explain their issue with what they know and can do and you made a joke. That's the inappropriate part.

Also, re if it's Sky+ or Sky Q, why not give an answer that directs to both? No need to ask if it's Sky+ or Sky Q. That just delays the answer.

My forum signature does declare"I am Neurodivergent" so telling me to read the room IMO is rather rude, especially when you are not practicing what you preach

No, not in any way shape or form being neuro-spicy (as the kids say) provide an excuse for being inappropriate. You're only projecting your anger at me because I called you out on it.
As a superuser, you know we need to stay on topic, so I will not be replying any more re this discussion about what it and what is not appropriate. I gave my opinion and you may accept or reject it respectfully. Simple. If you wish to continue this, you may private message me, however, I feel this discussion is complete.
If OP or you've a question re the cable (etc.), I'll be happy to answer.
