Bring back either Sky One, or whoever planned the programmes, Sunday nights, used to have NCIS Los Angeles and other quality programmes from across the pond.
As for now, very poor.

Changes are required imo , especially i think within next 6 months with launch of HBO Max coming early next year, Sky Atlantic original programming simply should be branded as something else like Day Of The Jackal is on Virgin for example...
And It's incredible to think Sky Max will have no first run exclusive shows from US broadcast networks remaining by the end of this year.

Yes, Sky One was brilliant in its day, proper appointment viewing, especially on Sunday nights with shows like NCIS: Los Angeles and other top-quality imports from across the pond. It definitely had a certain charm and reliability that's sorely missed.
That said, viewing habits have changed a lot since then. These days, most people don't watch live TV the same way they used to back when Sky One was at its peak. Streaming services like Netflix, Discovery+, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV, HayU, and DAZN have really shaken things up by cutting out the “middle man”, i.e. Sky, and delivering content straight to viewers on their own platforms.
As a result, Sky now (seemingly) tends to negotiate rights on a per-show basis rather than securing whole network deals like they did in the past. For example, they previously picked up The Simpsons and Futurama from Fox and focused on HBO's lineup through Sky Atlantic. But, currently, unless a programme looks set to be a big hit, like From or And Just Like That, Sky seems less likely to bid for it.
It's a very different landscape now, with the streaming giants calling many of the shots. While it's disappointing to see fewer classic-style schedules, it's just the way the industry is evolving
In my own opinion, live TV now seems mostly aimed at young kids and people over 50. I notice so many crime-related shows on all channels, which feels like what they're catering to. Even the likes of U&Eden doesn't show nature-related content.

Re: Sky One
And with the launch of HBO Max early next year, Sky Atlantic & Sky Comedy are a bit surplus to requirements imo they really can just move the Original programming to Sky Showcase or Sky Max along with non exclusive HBO premieres they have left e.g House Of The Dragon and The Last Of Us

I doubt they are bringing back Sky One to be honest.

Re: Sky One
Of course not, but a few more decent programmes would be great.

Far trickier for broadcast channels to get hold of now studios have their own app distribution and the streamers are increasingly commissioning new content directly. Sky is a legacy regional broadcaster to six European countries (with under ten million subscription households speaking English) competing for material in a global marketplace where online audiences can be counted in billions.

That didn't work with The Connors, they showed a few seasons & then dropped it, I think there were only 2 seasons left to go.

Re: Sky One
I'd love to see the return of Sky One, as I've mentioned before. It was such an iconic channel, and has enormous nostalgia value for many of us. Dream Team on a Sunday night was a particular delight for me! Who remembers the strange 'Sky onc' rebrand!
Sadly the whole TV landscape has shifted, and we can see the changes already and they're not all good. The glory days are over, and what we have now is pretty much garbage, to be honest.
The skyone.co.uk domain remains active though, with a registration expiring 31 July 2025, so we'll see if they renew it - perhaps they're keeping it registered with the thought of one day resurrecting it. Fingers crossed!

Re: Sky One
I'm 1000% agree Sky One needs to come back when Max Launches Sky need to re work Sky comedy/max/showcase into Sky One and make Sunday nights what they use to be! Sky One still exists in other countries, it was the heart of Sky TV, the others don't give us that.

Rather challenging in the contemporary media landscape, and frankly beyond the power of any individual media provider.

Re: Sky One
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if there were marketing meetings already happening about resurrecting Sky One for the launch of Saturday Night Live UK next year.
They are banking a lot on the success of SNL and it'll be the first big, flashy 'live' (ish) non-sport studio show that Sky have done for a while.
The may want to introduce a linear non-sport UHD channel and Sky One UHD could be the branding they need...?
