We need sky soap as I've never seen eastenders coronation street or emmerdale from the very beginning @zombyzooie

Not sure why another channel would be needed for this.

Old Episodes are freely available on iplayer and ITVX, and also make up most of the daytime schedule for U&Drama

@MarkGoldsmith  That's not the point the customer should get to watch what they want

If you want your own niche channel then fund it yourself 🙂 Matbe then you'll see why what you're asking for is not practical 🙂

I'm confused by this. Customers can watch what they want more on the streaming apps than they can on linear TV channels. As mentioned loads of old soaps are shown on a channel throughout the day as well as being available on free streaming platforms. How is that not providing customers the opportunity to watch what they want?

Re: SKY SOAP

@MarkGoldsmith  Well I missed emmerdale from the beginning when they showed old ones on itv3 and itv x so yes I know they show old ones now but I've missed heaps so starting from the beginning would be of great benefit for me

Unfortunately you're unlikely to find a company with deep pockets willing to finance the start up of a new channel. There simply won't be the demand for it.

  • Please can we have a SKY SOAP channel. It will be watched by millions everyday. All the original soaps from the USA and UK from the beginning please.

I think the likes of U&Gold broadcast the old series of soaps like EastEnders, so it wouldn't make sense to launch Sky Soap today. A year ago, classic Doctor Who was on U&Drama, so it would be best to contact UKTV for when a specific soap is broadcasting or available on-demand.

Certainly, as long as there's subscription income (plus advertising revenue where appropriate) to cover the cost of the service.

A one-viewer channel would be viable as long as 'the customer' is prepared to pay several million pounds a year...

Unfortunately advertisers typically want more than a single viewer if they are going to pay for slots ; )
