One Touch Switch

My address details have been fraudulently used to set up a Sky account while I am a Virgin Media customer.  I have been told by Virgin Media that Sky have initiated a one touch switch and asked me to cancel it if I do not want to move - which I don't.  I have made 5 telephone calls to Sky and their call centre is in India.  The name on the account is different to my actual name and they will not access my account to perform the one touch switch.  I need this to be cancelled, please help me.

@Pauline3

Not necessarily fraudulent. It could be something as innocent as a prospective customer entering an incorrect house number or postcode.

If you aren't a Sky customer then the account isn't yours.

I'm pretty sure you can tell your existing provider to block the switch if someone has erroneously entered your address and initiated a switch for your property

Re: One Touch Switch

VM have categorically told me that Sky needs to cancel the switch, they can' t block anything.

I'm pretty sure the person you spoke to at VM is wrong about that. One of the reasons you would receive an email from your current provider when a switch from them has been requested is for them to provide you with any cancellation fee amounts, and they should also in the email say to contact them if you dont want the switch to go ahead.

@Pauline3 It's 100% not fraud as they have not used your name on the account with Sky.

Virgin media can and should stop the transfer if you have informed them you have not requested the move/takeover.

Sky can't discuss it with you as your name is not on the account with them., doing so would more than likely be a breach of GDPR.
