I tried everying everyone advised and nothing worked, not 1 and 3 or the 7 and 9, no instructions appwared etc. Switched off / on etc etc etc. Became so fed up I switched everthing off again but this time at the plug and walked away for half an hour. Switched it all back on and volume still not working..HOWEVER when I tried the 1 and 3 combo this time it worked, instructions appreared on the screen and both volume, voice control and at least some of may sanity returned !
