If you don't want to use it then you don't have to but certain content like The Sopranos will not only be available via HBO Max as they are the content holder so the days of programs like this being available via just Sky Atlantic are over I'm afraid.

hi @MarcMarquez

To be clear,  your personal activation of HBO Max has had no impact on the availablity of content via SKY Atlantic - so deactivating HBO Max would   make no difference to what is availble to you. via SKy Atlantic but it could restrict access to content that may only be availble via the app.

SKY and the HBO Max owners (WBD) have long standing deals which allows content to be used on SKY but with WBD launch of HBO Max they have more control over what is shown on both platforms.

Clearly at launch HBO Max want to maximise their viewers so some content that was previously on SKY Atlantic may not be any more - although some may return for defined periods

Re: HBO Max

Anything that was part of the old HBO output deal (Pre April 2022) Sky no longer has the rights to and seemingly the early 2026 series will only be available for 6 months from their premiere date.

Unpalatable as it may be, you can of course pay for the Ad free option on HBO.

It's probably important to understand that Warner Bros Discovery Ltd, the current owners of HBO, think that Sky has been underpaying for HBO content over many years (and also effectively delaying the launch of Max in the UK) : the eventual expiration of the previous long-term contract with Sky Atlantic made under different ownership means WBD is back in full control of that extremely valuable back catalogue and they really need to demonstrate to some fairly disgruntled stockholders that they are now going to maximise financial returns.
