The full version of the bbc i player is available with sky tv uk.
The full version of the RTE TV Player is not available with sky tv ireland.
This would only cost sky ireland about few million euros extra per year to RTE in the republic of irelsnd and it would counter rampant tv piracy in ireland and cut the churn of sky tv subscribers in ireland

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@ftakeith1 Surely it is up to RTE what they make available, not Sky. Isn't RTE a licence fee funded service to Ireland?
Despite popular myth Sky don't control every thing on Satellite.

No
If sky paid rte, to do an deal for extra money. It could happen.
That is why I am an sky store only customer, now tv customer and i have eir tv.
I get the full rte tv player with the apple 4k tv devices with eir tv, now tv and more

Same process as the full bbc i player with sky tv uk.
Same process as the full das erste/zdf players with sky tv germany

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@ftakeith1 I'll repeat it is up to RTE, not Sky.
RTE decide what content they want to share on the Sky Platform, not Sky. Sky do not control RTE's decision making.
Also to clarify :
BBC broadcast in the clear
ARD/ZDF/and German regions Broadcast in the Clear
RAI 1, 2 & 3 Broadcast in the clear
RTE Encrypted for reception to Irish viewers only.

I don't think rte player being available on sky will stop people with 'dodgy boxes'

It would stop tv piracy in ireland.
It would stop most of the churn of sky tv subscribers per year

RTÉ player App has been available on Sky Glass since the launch of Sky Glass in August 2022 in Republic of Ireland
It's not the full version of the app you get on Android TV's etc and mobile phones etc
The RTÉ player app on Sky Glass though has most content you need to view It's only small amount of content not listed.
The RTÉ Player app on Sky Q would be the same as Sky Glass

@ftakeith1 the Rte player on Sky Q previously was not the full version.
the version available on Sky Q since around last week is the full version with many box sets, kids box sets, and catch up, the same as android boxes and apps on mobile phones.

That's what we have on Sky Glass since August 2022 in regards to RTÉ Player you can watch live channel broadcasts and catch up broadcasts from the app itself and watch on demand content box sets etc etc
It's not the full version though that you get on other smart tv's or mobile devices from Google Play Store or Apple App Store or RTÉ website player version but it does has most of content that customers need.
It's only missing a small amount of content most would not notice the difference until they do a search and find something not listed for playback but is available with RTÉ Player Website or the RTÉ Player App from Google Play Store.
What Sky Q had previously was not a app
It was just list of catch up and on demand content available to download to your Sky Q Box.
Sky Q in Republic of Ireland now has same RTÉ player app that's been available on Sky Glass since August 2022
The RTÉ Player App on Sky Glass and now recently made available to Sky Q is a modified version created just for Sky Platform it has minor differences to the Full Version.
It's still listed as a trial app since Sky Glass was launched in August 2022
