Forum revamp

  I hate to say it, but the What's On board has become very tiresome of late. There is only one decent thread on here. Nearly every post now is the same old thing: " Apps not working " or " Can't get HBO/Paramount/Disney, etc ". The replies are always the same: " What Sky system are you using ? ", or " Have you activated it? ". This is usually the point where the thread ends.

  The original remit of this board disappeared a long time ago, but it would be nice to get it going again. With that being said, here is my idea for a revamp.

  Have a new board called Streaming Content. This board would then have sub-boards for all the various streaming platforms currently available, or at least the most popular ones. On here, customers can discuss their favourite shows/films. It will not be used for customer issues/complaints. More on this later.

  Change the What's On board to Sky Content. This would be used for customers to discuss their favourite shows/films available from Sky & FTA channels. Again, this is not to be used for customer issues/complaints.

  For customer issues/complaints, another new board can be created & named Troubleshooting. This is the place for all those posts I mentioned earlier, plus any other issues that arise.

  I hope a moderator sees this & has a good think about it. The time for a revamp is really due.

@Mr+Ripley

I wholeheartedly agree, but sadly it seems that many people with issues just post blindly on whatever forum a dumb AI search sends them to.
It seems that it's far too much effort for most people to actually do a proper search for an answer that's likely been posted many times previously.

  @Angel_Aka  I know what you mean, but hopefully that's where the Superusers come into play. They can move those sorts of posts to the correct place, the Troubleshooting board. Maybe then, customers will get used to it.

This forum in the past was called "Miscellaneous" thus the reason you get so many threads that seem to be off topic, it is used as a dumping ground for threads that have nowhere else to go 😞

Sometimes this forum is more like "What's Not On" or "What's Wrong" than "What's On"

  But then it was renamed What's On, with the idea being that we, the customers, use it to discuss our favourite shows & films on Sky ( this was before streaming was a thing ). It would be nice to get back to that & the issues with Sky & streaming platforms can be dealt with on the Troubleshooting board.

A lot of the threads in this forum are moved here from other forums 😞 creating more forums will not make people post in the correct place

Sky told us we can move miscellaneous threads to this form and I don't think they have any plans to restructure ATM

We the superusers fed back to our Sky cotacts our concerns about missing  forums when they last messed about with the forum structure many years ago and nothing was done then AFAICR

  @Annie+UK  Fair enough. But I do think that if there were a board named Troubleshooting, that would be an obvious name for customers to head to with their issues. Currently, there isn't any board that stands out as an obvious place to post any issues, which is why they end up all over the place. If customers could get used to using one specific board for their issues, the rest of my idea would fall into place.

@Mr+Ripley  There are very obvious boards for Sky+, Sky Q, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Mobile Sky Broadband etc. which covers 90% of customer issues.

Having another board called troubleshootiung will just invite more posts dumped on the wrong board meaning more work for the people who then have to move these incorrectly placed posts.

We don't get paid to do that and if we are spending more time moving posts we can't give time to actually answer them.

@Mr+Ripley

I totally agree with the thoughts of @GD1

I agree that the What's On board sometimes looks like a dumping ground for posts but we always ask the poster questions which are likely to give us a hint as to which board the post is best suited to. That won't change by having a board called 'Troubleshooting' or similar. We will still need to move it so that customers of that particular product can find it in a search for example.

I spend enough time every day as it is moving posts that are in the wrong place.

@Daniel0210

The what's on board wouldn't be so much of a dumping ground if more people replied to us when asked what TV service they have as some just do not and are never seen again so it is impossible to know what board their post needs moving to if underbthstbuserne they have made no previous posts that might give us a clue.

Re: Forum revamp

  Okay. Let's forget the Troubleshooting board. But can the moderators at least think about the rest of my idea to have Content boards for Sky & streaming platforms, & then let's see how that goes?

They do, depending on what platform the the user has the relevant boards would be Sky Glass, Sky Stream or Sky Q
