Football Commentators and Pundits

I usually watch football on TV with the sound muted because I can't stand the commentary. I know it's not currently done, but why can't Sky give us the option to have stadium sound but no commentary? I recall that Sky used to offer this several years ago. It would be a massive improvement and I'm sure a huge number of subscribers would agree.

Why not email your suggestion to Sky via their viewer relations email address here - viewerR@sky.uk

The fact that they used to provide that option, but now don't, suggests it wasn't that widely used.

They do -  turn the centre channel off on the 5.1 audio.

I'm with you on this one, the pundits I have to say don't inspire me and the amount of money Sky must pay them

Re: Football Commentators and Pundits

I very often turn off sound because the co commentators are too critical a d don't allow me to enjoy the game as I would like...ie the players are not robots and the game relies on players being human and make mistakes...part of the game.

Give us a break..

Re: Football Commentators and Pundits

Agree with comments about quality of some of the pundits. In addition, one feature that is annoying me is the habit of Sky's "premiere" commentator, Peter Drury, is the way he announces the names of players only after they have moved the ball on to another player, the latter being very often in possession of the ball by the time he says the name. Once noticed is becomes extremely irritating.

@SNJ1  i hadn't noticed but decided to rewatch the last 15mins of the Arsenal v Newcastle match (being a gooner its a good 15mins) and your absolutely right in him saying the player name after they passed. I won't be able to unsee it now lol

He's done this for years. I remember when he was the lead commentator for ITV when they had Champions League and he was doing exactly that. Its like he is commentating on a 5 second delay 😀
