Thanks to nolte and TommyBeGood for further helpful information.  If I've understood things correctly it seems that even after the HBO deals change in 2026 it still  won't be possible to watch HBO third-party content in the UK.

Was this the series about the Seven Day War?

If so More4 had shown it in November/December 2021.

If it is not available on their streaming, service, then it must have expired. (Which would be expected after nearly 4 years from it's release)

Re: 2020 TV Series Valley of Tears

Thanks to Daniel0210 and to nolte for taking the trouble to reply to my question so quickly.

Yes, it is the series broadcast on More4 in 2021 I was inquiring about.  I recorded the series but have found that they susbstituted the last of the 10 episodes with a random episode of an A & E series.  They announced just before that episode that they'd had to change the scheduling but have never broadcast Episode 10 as far as I know.  You are also correct that Channel 4 no longer have the rights but I'd heard it might be on Sky via an HBO add-on.

Thanks again for your replies.

that would be my recollection too. It was such a weird thing to do, especially with the last episode

While it is available on hbo in USA (according to JustWatch), Sky's current distribution is rights to HBO original content rather than stuff HBO has bought from other distributors for their streaming platform.

Hbo own streaming platform is due to launch in 2026, though for non-hbo distributed content, would need to buy rights in those countries (ie in France for hbo, it is not listed on justwatch)

There is no 'HBO add-on' to Sky (yet).  That's due to happen in 2026 when Max finally gets launched in territories currently covered by the long-standing HBO-Sky Atlantic deal.
