no going calls can be made by landline

we went to dial 999 at 7pm last Sunday and realised that we couldn't make any outgoing calls.  after several phone calls and having to dial 999 again today at 11am we still can't make any outgoing calls.  can't seem to get anyone at sky to get an engineer out to look at the connections in the Open Reach Box.  we are reliant on the land line working.  how do you get sky to actually do something.  we have a dialling tone, when it tries to ring the number it is making clicking noises and after a short pause makes a loud noise and the line goes dead.

@SD35

Your post isn't very clear. Do you mean you've reported the fault to Sky or not?

What did Sky say when you reported it?

Re: No outgoing calls from landline

nothing much, they did try and ring my mobile today but I had to end the call as I was waiting for the ambulance control to ring me and then sent a message to say i didn't want to speak to them

@SD35

So you've said. What did Sky say? Have they passed the fault to Openreach?

Re: no going calls can be made by landline

had a text message yesterday to say problems had been fixed.  i emailed them to say that we still could not make any outgoing calls.  they tried to ring me on the mobile today but i had to end the call due to waiting for ambulance control to contact me.  i then received an email to say i didn't want to speak to them and could book an engineer from sky and gave me a link that doesn't work.  as far as i am aware they haven't booked an Open Reach Engineer to look at the connections

Sounds like you need to report it to Sky again and tell them it still isn't fixed.

already done so my husband is housebound and needs the landline to contact someone to help him when I am not in and Sky are fully aware of this.  they have been told by email and by mobile that it needs to be fixed as soon as possible

Have you actually had a conversation with them about this? It's not clear from what you've told us that Sky have acknowledged that there's fault. Have they got you to carry out any troubleshooting? Have they confirmed an Openreach booking?

Re: no going calls can be made by landline

they said that the engineer (not sure if from Sky or Open Reach) had fixed the problem yesterday.  They didn't seem very keen to get Open Reach involved when I spoke to them on my mobile on Wednesday so not sure if Open Reach have actually been informed that there is a problem

Re: no going calls can be made by landline

All checks have been done, phone unplugged, filter checked system checks have all been done and sky software says there is not a problem. the email i sent today has asked them to inform me when an open reach engineer has been booked, but don't expect an answer

Sky don't use email as a general means of contact, which may explain the difficulties you're having in getting this resolved.

I think the best thing to do is to speak directly to Sky to report it again. I'd suggest either calling them via mobile, or if you prefer we can ask their messaging team to contact you here tomorrow so that you can report it via a private online chat.
