This may be a stupid question, but what is sky 'Talk', please? I have it as part of my package but don't think I need it.

Sky Talk is Skys landline phone service and is sold bundled together with Sky Broadband. If you don't feel you need it contact Sky and get the tariff changed to Sky Pay As You Talk. That way only any calls you make will be charged (except calls to Sky and freephone calls ).
