Transferring old telephone number from Hyperoptic to SKY- Porting Issues

I hope someone can adv me on below matter as I cannot be the only one who is experiencing this

 

Previously I had intent and phone line with Hyperopic, I have recently moved home and signed up with SKY to provide broadband and phone line, I wanted to transfer my old telephone number from Hyperopic to Sky, this is where things become messy and ugly. Sky say they cannot transfer the number form Hyperotic and for me to contact Hyperoptic. When I contact Hyperoptic they say the new service provider needs to make some sort of porting request.

 

In short I am being given the run around between the two providers and I have just signed up to SKY with new telephone number, However I am pretty desperate to make sure I am able to continue using the old number for obvious reasons.

 

My old telephone number is still active under my old home address and in my name while I try find a way if possible.

 

Is anyone able to adv on what stpes i can take or service providers should take to ensure the number is transferd from Hyperotic to SKY. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

It sounds as though this would require Sky to make a bespoke request of some kind, which is why they've said they can't keep your number. I'm pretty sure their switching arrangements are automated - they're not set up to make custom requests.

 

If it's vital for you to keep your number you might need to either stay where you are or see if another provider can accommodate you.

Once the April 2023 date has come then it providers will be required to act on porting requests.

 

@Mark39 porting requests is usually a processes that can be done but can be complex across different implemetations.
