Plugging 'extension cable' into sky router ? How to do it master socket or slave socket?

Can anyone please offer me some advice.

We are now on full fibre 300 sky talk anytime (24/7 'landline').

We want our telephone ot be in a different room to our router (SR203)

So we need to run a telephone wire from the router for about 5m to the next room.

Our plan would be to buy a 5m telephone extension cable and plug it into the back of the router. At the other end of the cable I would like to mount a telephone socket on the wall.

IS this possible?

What kind of socket should I buy. There seem to be at least two types: master and slave.

Many thanks for any help. It will be much appreciated.

@greenbike yes, you can do that, indeed many hardware stores can supply a phone extension kit. You would fit it in exactly the same way as you would installing an extension to a phoine wall socket. If you want to cable it yourself, you need a slave socket.

However, have you considered a DECT cordless phone? That would save you the hassle of wiring an extension, and possible unsightliness of the cabling.

Many thanks very helpful.

Yes we have a DECT phone but we only have one and we want it plus charger in the other room hence the extension.

It's an easy route for the cable so not a problem. Also there isn't a spare socket for powering the DECT base station next to the router.

Best wishes
