Phone line not working

I'm not tech savvy so don't really know . Basically I bought a new house phone and all was well till around a week. It stopped ringing or letting me ring out no dial tone nothing. I'm stuck in house all time mostly on my own no mobile so really depend on landlines.tjats why I pay for calls included. Wag do I do. Don't even know if this email or whatever it is is gonna work. Its making my anxiety worse I need access to outside world. Please help
