Phone Settings for a Fritz!box

I signed up for Sky Broadband a couple of days ago and my previous provider pulled the plug a few hours ago. The problem is that thanks to things happening before I even get the Sky router, I had no internet. The Sky router is travelling through DPD's system somewhere with no delivery date specified.

I did manage to get connected to the internet using my Fritzbox 7530 but can't use the DECT phone as I haven't a clue as to what the Sky settings should be.

Can anyone please help out with this?

There's no interface to Sky's VOIP system other than the phone socket at the back of Sky's broadband Hub, I'm afraid.

I don't know if the Fritzbox actually contains the necessary hardware, but even if it does, Sky have't published any settings that might activate it.

So far as I'm aware, nobody has been successful in using the VOIP service with anything other than Sky's Hub.

Appears to have both an ATA and be capable of acting as a DECT base, so really quite clever.

@Ejmurr Unfortunately not going to work for Sky Talk Internet Calls, though, as @Mark39 indicates ; (

Re: Phone Settings for a Fritz!box

Thanks for that bad news 😃

My previous provider was airwire based in Galway, and their account details for the DECT were:

Username                          - my phone number

Authentication Name  - blank

Password                           - ****                            (never knew what the password was)

Registrar                            - phone.airwire.ie

Proxy Server                     - phone.airwire.ie

STUN Server                    - blank

Other things that get mentioned are "preselection *121#" whatever that means.😗

And also:

Contact internet telephony provider via - only via IPv4

Transport Protocol                                            - automatic

Media protocol                                                    - RTP/AVP

If I could feed in the proxy server details etc I can't see how it wouldn't work but that might be wishful thinking on my part. Not having access to a Sky hub I've no idea if the settings are a closely guarded secret.😛

It was hard work ringing an 0818 number and it cost me about €7.50 for the phone call that achieved nothing.  I only managed to get internet access thanks to playing with the info provided by Colossus88@ .😁

No such setting are visible on a Sky Broadband Hub or Max Hub, and they aren't documented.  There's no option to input other settings.

So far, no-one has been able to pull anything out of the Hub upstream handshake either.
