Paying for unused phone line

Why do we have to pay so much for an unused phone line.

If you never make any calls via your landline phone then contact so and ask them to change you to the pay as you talk  phone package.

Providing you have the Pay as you Talk package and don'tmake any calls, you're not paying anything for your phone line.

Note that the 'landline rental' element of the broadband subscription is required to have a live data bearer cable (copper or optical) at the address for the internet connection to function.
