No landline connection

My landline has stopped working. The message says' please check your phone connection'. I have checked the line and we can neither make or receive calls. Mobile signals are not good here, so we need urgent help. We are neither in the prime of youth

I have been through all of this without any success. The fault would appear to be outside and not in the house, and we urgently need a reconnection because of difficulty with mobile reception. Thank goodness the internet still works
