I left Sky talk and broadband on 7 August. I couldn't do the usual transfer between broadband providers. I have since gone to Gigaclear. I am looking to go to Vonage for my residential telephone as Gigaclear themselves do not offer VoIP. As I didn't do it at the time am I still able to somehow get my number transferred to Vonage as don't want to change numbers as it would be a pain to tell everyone of a new number.

@rob1950 to the best of my knowledge, Sky can only port numbers as part of an active line takeover - that is, when you switch to another provider. As you cancelled, rathermthan switching, your line is no longer active, and the number will have been moved to an unused numbers repository, for a quarantined period. So far as I know, Sky can't retrieve a number when it has been quarantined.
