Moving copper line to sky
Hi
I live in an area with no mobile service so having my copper phone line is important
I had loads of problems with BT who had kept my copperline as a back up incase we have powercut or Internet outage.
I've just moved to sky broadband and talk, and BT are now charging me £36 for having the copperline which is only used if there's a power cut or Internet shortage, this seems expensive.
So I now have a sky talk phone number and a BT landline number.
Can sky take on my landline so I still have use if the broadband or electric is down
The open reach engineer says it sounds like BT have made me take a 2nd line and he has left my copper connection and attached sky broadband to my address, however I would much prefer to not pay BT 36 quid for what is essentially an emergency phone facility
Can sky take on my copperline.
Would there be any additional charge
How would I arrange this 🤔

Re: Moving copper line to sky
Check directly with Sky, but I'm fairly sure they won't be able to help with a backup line, I'm afraid. They were among the first, if not the first provider to mandate a digital voice service over broadband for new customers rather than a copper based service. They have never provided secondary lines. You could ask them about alternative backup arrangements for use in the event of a power failure.

Re: Moving copper line to sky
They do offer it as a pay as you go service, they've apologised but to resolve I need to cancel the order and then set up a new order, according to the tech team, but open reach said they just need to get my number from BT
And 7 to 14 days with no internet is no good for me we've been without for 6 weeks !
