Landline phone not working
No dial tone on landline phone and gives a "number you are calling is temporarily unavailable" message
not changed anything or moved any connections - have tried rebooting the hub
unable to get through to speak to an agent
any thoughts/help appreciated

See if you can run this line test to see if a fault is found outside of your property and if something is found you can book an engineer repair:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/fix-phone-problems-start
You can also run this test via the MySky app.

Thanks for the info - unfortunately still not working. No dial tone and it still states 'number temporarily unavailable' if I try to call it.
doesnt seem to give me the option to book an engineer

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who will be in touch with you regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at the bottom of this page. It can take up to a few hours to be contacted via this.

When the chat bubble does appear you have 48 hours to respond or it will be automatically closed. This isn't a live chat so replies are not instant.

The phone line issue was eventually resolved yesterday - does anyone know if the standard ofcom compensation for not having your phone line in use is applied automatically by Sky - or do you have to request/claim this?

See this link re auto compensation for when there is a total loss of Sky Broadband or Sky Talk. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/auto-compensation
If you have a total loss of service and it isn’t fixed after two full working days from when you first report the fault to Sky, you will become eligible for it and it’s applied 30 days after the fault has been repaired. It will come in the form of a credit appearing on your account.
