Landline going digial

This must have been asked before but.. When the powers that be switch off our copper wire connectivity what can I do? We live quite rurally and have no mobile signal and frequent power outages. Does anyone know if Sky will be providing UPS's at.all? I've tried phoning but can't get a straight answer. Many thanks.

Ofcom requires ISPs to take sufficient steps to identify vulnerable customers and offer a solution which mitigates risk: this is currently defined as a UPS with a one hour runtime (frankly entirely inadequate in the real world but that's what they've decided)

At least one post in the forum described a customers tortuous journey to eventually receiving a UPS from Sky.

Interestingly Government and even the ISPs acknowledge that one hour is just silly...

However there's very definitely a problem with affordability, as better UPS units cost more, and all have a finite lifespan before no longer holding sufficient charge.
