Sky VoIP phone - Calls not paid for.

Hi Guys. I have opted not to have a talk package, I use my mobile.  Can I buy any VoIP phone to use for calls I have to pay for, if yes can anybody recommend a good place to get one, thanks. Any help gratefully appreciated.

No, because a VOIP phone has its own internal ATA which makes the voice call compatible with transmission over the internet A VOIP phone can therefore be connected but only via one of the Hub's ethernet ports, and you would need to sign up with an external VOIP provider to make use of it.

Sky's broadband Hub has an internal ATA. Their landline service is only available via the Hub's telephone port, so that any standard phone will work.

@myoyster  a VOIP phone won't work with Sky Talk, you need a standard corded or dect phone.

If you have Sky Pay as You Talk all calls are chargeable, you would need a calls package if you make a few calls Sky Talk tariff guide | Sky Help | Sky.com | Sky Help | Sky.com

Full list of calls charges are here

It's the way calls are delivered that is changing. There's no change to the handsets in use. If there was, everyone switching to a digital phone service would have to change their handset.

It's PSTN which is currently scheduled to end in January 2027: as @Mark39 indicates that's the bearer mechanism external to the property, not handsets in domestic use.
