Re: Telephone not working

Yes, getting this issue too in East London.

Until I read this thread, I thought it might've have been something to do with Openreach, as there are a load of Openreach vans in my area at the moment, but clearly there is a fault with Sky somewhere.

My parents who are house bound and rely on a phone also have this problem. It started last Wednesday and they thought it was a problem with their handsets so purchased a new set only to have the same problem. It is intermittent and they can hear the caller but the caller can't hear them. Sky have no idea of when the issue will be resolved. This is incredibly frustrating.

People can't hear me on the phone

I switched to SKY broadband and TALK recently, I was surprised to find that the landline had to be plugged into the back of the router, but this worked fine for a couple of weeks.

But a few days ago, people who rang me could not hear me, and when I rang them, they still could not hear me, although I can hear them.

I have not changed anything at my end, so I don't understand why this has happened.

@WallyWap I'll add your post to an existing thread on this subject. As you can see it's a known issue that Sky are, investigating

Just joining in to add that we've now got the same issue. We've been away so I've no idea when I lost the ability to make/receive calls.

My mum is having the same problem. Sky came out today to fix it and said it was a fault with BT .

Re: Telephone not working

Spoke to SKY they said to try rebooting open reach grey box and then the router, didn't work but they advised it was a country wide issue and it affected all networks and engineers were working on it. Phone actually worked 3 times today, 1 incoming call and 2 outgoing, but I don't know if I missed any incoming calls where people couldn't connect.

I was advised by Sky to try the following method for reboot.

Switch of power to open reach box

Disconnect yellow cable from router, then disconnect power and phone from router,

WAIT 11 MINUTES

Turn on power to open reach box

Reconnect yellow cable then power to router, reboot router

Wait for 4 green lights

Then reconnect phone.

Hope this method is correct and it works for you, BUT IT DIDN'T FOR ME.

What about the rest of us? I need the landline for important calls and so far this is causing stress and upset 😢 when will this be fixed?

Our phone has been intermittently working again today. Let's see if this continues.

See Sky's update yesterday morning. They expect it to be fixed soon, but don't have a specific date for resolution.

As of this morning the problem has been fixed for me.  I've made a number of outgoing and incoming test calls and each one worked with both ends of the call hearing the other.  I'll keeping my fingers crossed it stays this way!

Re: Incoming calls - the caller can’t hear me but I can hear them

My parents have the same issue for last 4 days. They'll phone me and they can hear me but I can't hear htem, it's like their line is muted, but it's not as I chekced all the handsets and even changed them to test.  Sky engineer came out and said it's a national issue, something to do with hacking??

My parents are in their 80's and to not be able to make emergency calls is terrible, though I understand if it's a national issue we just have to wait.

Re: Incoming calls - the caller can’t hear me but I can hear them

Well that's disappointing.  The first outgoing call this morning was a failure as the far end couldn't hear me.  They called me and we could both hear each other.  I've made more test calls and can confirm the fault is still there and it's still random ☹️.
