Until today I was able to access 1471 to retrieve an earlier call. Now it comes up with 'you are not subscribed to this service' I thought this service was free.!!!

Yes, it's free. 1571 isn't, however. Could you have mis-dialled perhaps? If not, it must be a glitch of some sort. If it persists give Sky a call (dial 150).
