Have no dial tone

My phone does not have a tone which means that I have not been able to make or receive calls using my landline. However, the AI assistant is not able to comprehend that while I to get Internet (with interruptions I should note) my landline has no tone. And I have tried to resolve the issue by following instructions such as unplugging and re-plugging the relevant lines to the phone socket. The fact that I am unable to make or receive calls goes to the heart of the contract that I have with SKY. It is extremely disappointing that I cannot get an engineer to attend to this matter.

I have this exact problem and experienced the same response from the automated help assitant.

 

If you dial the number again and don't answer any of the questions you will eventually be transferred to a real person.

 

I did this and Openreach are now investigating the problem.

@ADE666 do you have internet calls, where your phone plugs into your broadband Hub, or standard calls where your phone plugs into a wall socket?

I have no dial tone even after removing the broadband and plugging the phone line direct to the socket.

 

Also, as I've written, I am able to have Internet without an accompanying dial tone. I can use WhatsApp but I cannot use the landline.

Does your phone plug into the socket at the back of your broadband Hub?

Or does your phone plug into a wall socket?
