@Jill38 you'll be relieved to know the adviser was wrong. You just need a standard cordless DECT phone. The base station plugs into your broadband Hub and a handset (or handsets) which you can place wherever you wish, or carry with you communicates wirelessly with the base station.

@Jill38

The extensions just need to be connected to a normal electrical plug socket for charging.

Re: Fast fibre broadband

Thank you! They said just the one thats plugged into router will work i can't have a second phone as my landline is no longer operated from original line which is no longer available so I only can have the one plugged into router cos it's something called 'voice' is all i have now! Cannot have a second phone cos off something 'voice' I can only have the one plugged into router

@Jill38 that's partly correct in that a phone only works from the connection to your Hub.

But if you use a DECT cordless phone,  it's the base station that needs to be  plugged into the Hub. The cordless phone handset or handsets then connect via the base station. They don't need any other connection (except to the charger that comes with the DECT phone)

That's the label on the Hub LED rather than the name of the service (which is 'Sky Talk Internet Calls').  It's also possible they were getting confused with 'BT Digital Voice'.

The advisor was probably trying to tell you that internal cabled extension sockets won't work, rather than you can only have one handset: multiple DECT phones running from a single router socket are entirely normal.
