Ex directory

My land line with sky should be ex directory. We do not use land line. Everyday 3 times a day it rings with telemarketing numbers etc. I am trying to double check my account and getting no where, the virtual assistant doesn't understand!!

When calling Sky on 150 try saying nothing and remain on the line when asked about your call.

@Louisem3b I assume you've previously asked Sky for your number to be made ex-directory. You could call directory enquiries to check?

If you don't want to be bothered by nuisance calls, the call screening feature of the Sky Talk Shield can filter them out for you. Or if you don't use the phone, just unplug it?

We are ex directory too but 2-3 times a week we notice we have a missed call which hasn't rung out as the Panasonic phone blocker has stopped them. They random dial in bulk hoping some will be answered so being ex directory is irrelevant really.

Re: Ex directory

Im ex directory and still get marketing calls unfortunatelly, it is worth pointing out that being ex directory does not mean that you wont get marketing calls, have you registered with TPS ? (telephone preference service) once you do people legally cant do marketing aclls to your number. You dont need to ahve Sky talk sjield but you could try a phone with built in call blocking like ive got.

If they are UK based and law-abiding.

Unfortunately many cold-callers aren't.

Re: Ex directory

Yes obviously only UK law, however you can report companies that fail to comply with TPS and most will listen when you explain youre on the telephone preference service and rmove you from their list compleetly, I speak from experience as someone who used to work at call centres. If you have a call blcoking phone such as the BT one ive got then you can block international calls or announace them.
