Does Sky Talk Shield ever work

Been trying to activate Sky Talk Shield as part of our Broadband and Sky Talk contract package for over a year. It has never worked and always ends up with a general Sky message about working on the issue. Has anyone successfully activate this service or os it a marketing scam?

@RowenaH it works fine for many, but there's a long outstanding fault which affects some customers, resulting in an error when you try to access it.
