Digital phone switch over

Hi I'm elderly so please excuse what is probably a dumb question. When my phone line is switched to digital what happens regarding Facebook and Messenger calls. On the current phone system i have I can phone my son in Australia on messenger and there is no charge also my daughter on Facebook in the uk is no charge. When the switch over happens will these calls now have to be paid for as it's seems they are routed the same way as a phone call will.

I wouldn't expect there to be any change. The only difference will be that your phone will plug into your broadband Hub, rather than the wall socket.

Yes. Personally I see no advantage in Internet calls, but it's not something customers have a say about.

Oh I forgot to mention - If you are on FTTC they are NOT disconnecting your copper phone line unless you upgrade to FTTH !!

@15yearswithsky When I moved from BT to Sky in 2020 my copper line phone no longer worked and had to connect the phone via the router and so my phone sockets around my property no longer worked. So this is not the case if the exchange is SOGEA only.

Re: Digital phone switch over

true - however if your still using the copper wires for internet they won't be removing them anytime soon, FTTC , and yes you will connect your phone system to the router socket instead of the old BT master socket, just needs a bit of rewiring.
