If you're switching to Sky, you'll be sent a broadband Hub with a phone socket at the back. Simply plug your phone handset  into the socket. No other setting up is required.Note that a phone designed specifically to work with BT Digital Voice won't work with Sky's digital phone service. You need a standard cabled phone handset or DECT cordless phone.

If you have any problems, just post and someone here will try to help.

@harston123

As @Mark39 indicates, the preparation for the switch-off of PSTN is expected to be largely customer led, with ISPs working in the background to reconfigure their services and send out routers with phone ports when required.  Frankly there aren't enough engineers in the world to carry out the project by the end of next year if home visits were anticipated as being necessary in most cases.

Re: Digital Phones Using BT Openreach equipment

As and when the digital service is up and running will I still have Sky Talk Shield? I find this really good as no longer get nuisance calls. I can also block any numbers I no longer want calls from. I would much prefer to keep  my existing landline as am over 70 and only have a 'pay as you go' mobile phone,. I've rung BT and they advised me to call Sky.

@bunnie yes, Sky Talk Shield works with Sky Internet calls. You may have to re-register use of the Shield with Sky when the switch to Internet calls has completed on your line.

'BT' in this context is just another ISP in competition with Sky.

BT Wholesale and Openreach, which are pushing forward with PSTN switch-off, aren't public-facing organisations.

The target end-date for the project itself has just slipped by more than two years.
