Connecting new phone to sky max hub issues
We have had a new full fibre hub connected and now trying to connect new phone that are compatible. After plugging into the back of the hub we get an alarm sound on the phones and not a dialling tone. What are we doing wrong. Can you please help , I am 94 with bad eyesight thank you

Hello @ARNIE2. was the new Hub provided as part of a full fibre installation? Or was it just to replace an existing Hub?
If it was a new installation, when was your full fibre service activated? It's not unusual for there to be a delay of 24 hours or so (sometimes longer) for the phone service to be fully activated.
And lastly, you mention a new, compatible phone. Is this a standard phone? I ask only because a phone designed to work with a VOIP service (an IP phone) won't work with Sky's phone service.
Sorry for all the questions. The answers will build a picture of the background to this.

Thank you for your prompt reply. The hub is new and connecyed on mondsy. The phone is a bt4600 twin set and we were told by sky this would work and only needed plugging in.

@ARNIE2 it may simply be taking a bit longer than usual to activate the phone service.
You could try switching the Max Hub (and the ONT box if you have a separate fibre optic cable to your home) off at the plug for an hour, to see if that prompts the phone service to start up.
If it doesn't either leave it for another day, or give Sky a call to report a problem.

Thank you for you help. I have made a little headway. I was able to ring the phone from my mobile and went through, but when I pickup the new bt handsets there is still a loud alarm noise and not a dialling tone. I will persevere and see if the dialling tone returns to normal in time. Thank you for your assistance.
I have not been happy with skys installation, they have left me in a real mess. Not good for an old man with bad eyesight .....ha ha
