Can I keep my existing bt landline phone number if switching from bt to sky? 

Sky say most of time you can keep your number 

Bt say no if I'm joining sky and they are offering better speeds that what I'm currently getting with my bt then I absolutely cannot transfer my number ? 

Can anyone advise me on this ? 

I want to join sky but I'm not willing to lose my current bt landline number . If sky cannot fulfil this am I obligated to still be contracted once i sign up or can I cancel if this is the case

@xKJx  I think BT may be lying just to keep your custom, there really isn't a reason why you can take your number when Sky take over your line (unless someone knows different?).

Most of the time you can keep your existing number when moving to Sky Talk. Just let us know your existing number and your phone provider when placing your order.

Good to know: Order Sky Talk before cancelling with your current provider – we won’t be able to transfer your number if you cancel with them first.

If we can’t transfer your number or you want a new one, you’ll get an email or letter with your new number. Or sign in to My Account to see it.

@xKJx there have been reports of difficulties porting a number from another provider to Sky's VOIP service (which is what Sky will provision you with). I don't know how widespread the problem is.

As highlighted previously, Sky will tell you if they have to give you a new number. They give you a cooling off period with all contracts so you should be able to cancel at that time, if necessary.
