Background noice with voip

Hi

 

We've had our landline plugged into SR203 since 2019. We changed phonev(BT Advanced Z Twin) about a year ago.

 

We've never really had a problem with the phone, but mother-in-law is adamant she suddenly cant hear us properly. (She has Virgin phone plugged into router) She's equally adamant it's just us, no probs when ringing others. 

I've tried ringing from my mobile and it seems fine. However, there seems to be some interference, light buzzing etc.

 

Back in day, with copper wire, it used to be possible to test noise by plugging wired phone into the master socket.  Is there a VoIP equivalent for this?

No, the only relevant socket is the one on the rear of the Hub.
