BT Landline not working

My BT landline has stopped working - no dial tone.  Open Reach have just repaired a broken cable coming into our property, and the broadband and Sky are all working, but the BT phone line is still dead. It plugs into the Open Reach Master socket alongside the router cable.  I have tried various phones and have even tried plugging the phone cable into the router - still no dial tone.

Is your landline with BT or Sky?

Re: BT Landline not working

its a BT landline.  Had it for years, before we had Sky.  Now that we have just had a new copper cable to replace the old broken cable [from the street to our property] and a new internal wall socket , the router works fine, but the BT phone line is dead.

If you're sure your landline is provided by BT (do you pay BT line rental?), it's BT you need to contact to report a fault.

If you moved to Sky Broadband can you check if the broadband hub  has a voice light?   If so is it illuminated.

Re: BT Landline not working

Open Reach came and repaired the Copper cable and replaced  the socket housing the router cable and the phone cable. Router works fine. Phone does not.  There is a [copper] port on the router next to the router port that is labeled phone but Ive tried that too and that doesnt work.  There is a "Talk" light on the front of the router but the light is off.  We've never plugged the phone into the router before. We always pligged it into the socket.    I need to find out how to get the phone line tested. Ive tried BT but they dont want to know.  Probably  because  Ive been with Sky for so long so its now an Open reach issue.   Do I need to call sky?   Thanks for any advice

Re: BT Landline not working

My landline isn't working either.  When I try to ring the landline number from my mobile it comes up as engaged.  I've tried the service checker which shows no issues. I also have a Careline fitted.

Re: BT Landline not working
