BT Home Hub 2 Installed for Broadband but now the Sky phone line doesn't work

I've just had a BT Home Hub 2 Installed for broadband but now the Sky phone line doesn't work. The work involved removing very old copper wiring outside. The phone is now connected into the back of the hub. But there is no dial tone at all.

@Alan1938  If your with Sky why are you using a BT hub?

The broadband is through BT. The phone line is through sky.

@Alan1938  You mentioned old copper wiring bein g removed?   Was fibre installed in it's place?   If yes then as far as I'm aware FTTP does not carry a phone line service from a seperate provider and would need to be provided by BT over your fibre service.

@Alan1938  In that case I would speak to Sky to let them know you no longer have a copper line as they will need to stop any billing.

 

To Use BT's VOIP service they would need to provide their handsets. 

 

If i'm wrong I'm sure another poster can advise @Chrisee @TimmyBGood

@Alan1938 when you moved to BT for your broadband service did you order broadband only or with a phone service too?

 

Either way your sky service should have been ceased as BT would have taken over the connection.

 

You can't have a mix of BT Consumer broadband or Sky broadband and one of the others phone service.

 

If you've also moved to BT's phone service it'll be digital voice and can take 24hra to activate. However, if broadband only then the phone part of the service would have been ceased.

There is no 'phone line through Sky': that's just not a thing.  Sky broadband subscribers get a bundled phone service (either PSTN or VOIP) but that ceases when Sky broadband does.

 

BT may have given you a choice to take broadband only or broadband plus 'landline' when you ordered: Sky don't offer the same option.

@Alan1938 

If you did order 'landline' service from BT alongside their broadband then a standard handset or DECT basestation plugs into phone socket on the rear of the BT Smart Hub 2: you don't need BT Digital Voice handsets if you don't want to have those.
