Last week I had Sky ultrafast broadband istalled by Openreach. The engineer said the phone wouldn't work till the next day. It didn't and sttill doesn't. I spoke to someone at Sky who checked and found that ringing in you get a ringing tone and the router light flashes but the phone doesn't ring. He said the model of phone I have -an old panasonic- wouldn't work without an AT adapter. Info from Panasonic confirms that the phone needs ATA to work through the internet. I was about to buy one, they're upward of £40, when I looked at this site. Someone has said that Sky routers (mine is a SR230) come with ATA inbuilt. Is this correct? If so, any ideas as to what the problem might be.

An external ATA won't work for Sky Talk Internet Calls: the configuration required is undocumented.
Only the ATA built into the Sky Broadband Hub (SR203/204) and Max Hub gives access to Sky Talk IC.

Yes, that's correct. Firstly, is the 'Voice' light on your Sky Hub lit green?
We've occasional posts here reporting that some older analogue phones don't work with Sky Internet calls. It's possible your phone isn't compatible.

Unfortunately the most likely explanation is that for some reason that 'old panasonic' doesn't like the service, and replacing it is probably the only option.

Yes, the phone light is lit in the router and flashes if you try to call .
The phone is probably over 15 years old .
