my viewing card cant be read

I've had Sky for over 4 years now but suddenly it's started saying that my viewing card can't be read.  I've tried taking it out and reinserted it. I've gone into the settings and it says it's already paired. The only thing that works is turning it off at the wall and waiting for a minute.  It's really annoying and can happen 3 or 4 times a day.  What is wrong with it and how can I fix it?

It may need replacing. Give Sky a call.

When I call Sky it tells me to go online, when I call I dont get to speak to a person. So what do I do?
