can only record the channel I'm watching at present on my Sky+ box, cannot watch any other channel

I changed the settings a few weeks ago, on the advice of sky online chat, because we were losing quality whilst watching F1. Since then I can only record the programme that I'm watching and can't change channel unless I cancel the recording. 

Would love to sort this out today, there is F1 and football on at the same time!

I've checked and the signals are ok but I think that the sky technician talked me through changing to single feed. I don't know how to change that back to what it was previously.
