My old LG TV has just died and its discontinued by the Manufacturer and I wondered if all of the NEW TVS will just work alongside the Sky+HD box. Its just that I've been reading stuff online about HDR not being compatible etc.... or does it just mean you would just get the HD quality and not the full effect. I'm not willing to buy a TV or 2 to find that it doesn't work.... I think a 40-49" ish Tv would be suitable. Apologies this about a Tv, I just need advice....

Thanks, I'll order a new TV then & pray............. and wish I'd joined this forum before now.......... Family members couldn't help as they don't have Sky.
would the old HDMI cable from the sky box would that need changing? as these newer TVs seem to support 2.0. I don't know what mine is, had the box in 2016.

@Headaches123 I have a Sony OLED which is just over eighteen months old. It works fine with my Sky + HD box and I am using my old HDMI cable from years ago. The pictures are lovely.

Thanks @jewers. I haven't really looked at the OLED TV's. I will tomorrow. I still haven't decided on any particular model.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreMake sure you fully research OLED before thinking about them as many find then too delicate to operate as a general TV
There have been many reports of OLED suffering screen burn much more than LCD
I for one will not purchase an OLED as my LG LCD is perfectly fine for my needs (Xbox Series X using all the bells and whistles and my Sky+HD etc...)

Thanks for answering,@Annie+UK initially I was just looking at LG just a basic one, probably one step up from the old one.
I haven't done a lot of looking online today. I must admit I'm not keen on the some of the stands they don't seem adequate for such a big tv. yes, mine does have to sit on a table it cannot be wall mounted.

They are typically better engineered than you'd think from their appearance: TV manufacturers don't particularly want the liability costs of squashed children/pets.
The main thing to look for is on bigger sets, 'feet' at each end of the screen don't necessarily fit onto a particular item of furniture, so a centre mount is often more applicable.

I have had the same problem recently as I have a small 450mm square surface to put the TV on. If you look at the market most TV's have brackets on the ends which negates their use in these circumstances. I have purchased a 43inch QN43QN90A Samsung and am very pleased with it, the centre stand is heavy and robust. Good price too as they have just introduced the new 'B' range. The upscaling is brilliant with no problems upscaling a 1080I input that the Sky+ HD gives.
