What box with my LNB

Hi, I am moving into a property and wish to get a second hand sky box to view free view channels. I took a look at the lnb on the satellite to try see which box I need but I cannot seem to find a certain answer online.

could someone please tell me what sky tv box (sky+ or sky q) would be compatible with this lnb?

it states it is a quad ODU LNB model EL025

If it helps, you can't get a second hand Sky Q box (or any Sky Q box without a Sky subscription). Any you see for sale are stolen property.

hi @Eacolman

I am fairly confident that the LNB is 4 'Universal' ouputs  as used by SKY HD boxes rather any form of 'Hybrid' with Wideband outputs but I will tag our kind expert @Godfrey who should be able to confirm

TBH I think you may be better looking at Freesat Boxes depending on their  age,  as SKY HD boxes are now very old

Many TVs also have single (or even 2) Satellite inputs which also use UNiversal inputs although many no longer support Freesat EPG/functionality and are limited to Now & next type info

As @oj01 all SKY Q boxes (which need Wideband outputs)  are always owned by SKY and also no use without a subscription (even Essentials for FTA) anyway

Hi, this is the dilemma as trying to see if it would work with an old sky+ box or if I'd have to get a subscription - hopefully someone will know!

Re: What box with my LNB

Thanks for your help. I don't watch live tv much at all which is why I was hoping to get a second hand sky+ box just for the odd viewing as sadly my aerial doesn't work

hopefully you are right and that is the type that it is 🙂

I agree with @nigea99 that this looks like a standard LNB designed for use with Sky+ boxes or older Freesat boxes. It will work with an old Sky+ box, as a receiver of the free to air channels. You would need a subscription to be able to record or watch Sky's premium channels. Sky won't sell you a Sky+ subscription if you don't already have one.

BTW @Eacolman

I have no idea if anyone is selling them on EBay but if you do look at a used SKY +/HD box for viewing live FTA channels make sure it is not an old SD only box - most SD channels have changed transmission  type and no longer work on the SD only boxes
