TV or Sky HD Box issue

Having issues with quality of picture on TV. Not sure if its TV or the HD box, TV is only months old and I also have a brand new HDMI cable. At times it appears like shadows or blotches on screen and its a turn off and on until it disappears. And the last week screen has occasionally looked like the 2nd image attached, x Ray like pink/purple/green effect

The top image happens when there's a dodgy hdmi connection somewhere, try a new cable, change the hdmi input of the tv, see if it stays the same, could be a dodgy port on the sky+hd box which would require buying a 2nd hand one from eBay or Facebook marketplace
