Recieved a letter this morning advising that Sky no longer delivering regular updates so wont be getting the best experience whatever that means.I assume that includes HD boxes as well.Offering upgrade to Q at no extra cost but that is ok if you have a TV that is compatible.Looks like I will need to get Glass if I want a better experience but not really what impact not getting regular updates actually means.Any help greatly appreciated.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSky Plus has not had SOFTWARE updates for a couple of years so you will see no additional features, for now your box will function just as it does now
We are not moving from Sky Plus until we really have to ie Sky move away from satellite TV or switch off the feeds to Sky Plus boxes

hi @Oddie2004
As @Annie+UK indicates, lack of of Software updates is not an issue
The only potential issue / risk at the moment is should you have a box failure.
Please may I ask why you think your TV may be an issue for upgrading to SKY Q - does it not have any HDMI inputs ?

Its an old tv so no hdmi ports correct.Eventually I will need to change it but have no issues with it and its over 20 years old

Many thanks @Oddie2004
Even this being the case, personally, if you have to switch in future I would suggest you may be better getting a different TV to Glass & then have the option of SKY Q (for a few years at least) or SKY Stream
SKY Glass is, IMO, too reliant on SKY and nowadays is old in TV terms
