Sky + viewing card "not authorised"

Error message appeared, "This viewing card is not authorised. If you have received a new viewing card please insert it now. For more information go to skyviewinghelp.com" Any of the support either does not recognise this message, or only advises on the Sky Q box. Ours is Sky+ and was working fine yesterday. Any suggestions?

If you have had a failed Sky Q order/install the the card will be cancelled and you'll need a replacement

or

Try performing a New Install

Re: Sky + viewing card "not authorised"

Thank you.  We did have a scheduled Sky Q install a couple of months ago, but when the engineer arrived, he did not upgrade because we have a Magic Eye and it would have been lost if he had.  No warning or anything about this though, that is odd.  No fear of them not charging us though!  BBC 1 works?  Is that luck?

It's a glitch in Sky's automated system that they've never got round to fixing.

When you ordered Sky Q a new card was issued and your existing card was set to automatically cancel at some point in the future.

When Sky Q installs don't go ahead, that automated process isn't reversed.

If you did get a Sky Q card, and still have it, it may now work in your Sky+HD Box. If not you'll need to explain it all to Sky who will send you a new card (after trying to sell you Sky Q or Sky Stream again).
