Sky+ not receiving signal

I have Sky+ in the lounge an Sky+ in my sons bedroom.. My son has no poblems whatsoever with his sky. I however am having a nightmare. Put tv on after tea BBC1 Wales, ITV1  and a couple of other channels display the No signal message,, within an hour the channels are working, then they go off again and so on like that all evening. Its the start of the rugby world tonight and i need ITV.  Sometimes they will stay on for a while and then pixelate and then go on and off. Sky dish is within reach for me with a step ladder.

@jayne+craven
”No signal” tends to be a message from your TV. A “no satellite signal” message relates to your Sky box. Take a look at the troubleshooting on the appropriate section of this link.

You may then need to contact Sky and arrange for an engineer to check the alignment of your dish. If you’re on a communal dish system you’ll have to contact your landlord or building management company rather than Sky.

@jayne+craven as your son's Sky box is working without issue, it looks like,the,problem is either with the cables from the dish, or the LNB on the arm of the dish, or the box itself.

You could try checking the connections to your Sky box, by switching the box off at the plug and,disconnecting and reconnecting the dish cables. Make sure,the connectors are still securely fitted to the cables. You could rule out a box problem by swapping the two boxes to see if,the fault follows the box. Beyond that, you would be best booking an engineer.

Re: Sky+ not receiving signal

I tried having a go but nothing worked. Called my local Sky bloke, he was on holiday. I had another go, nope, nothing worked. Then i remembered reading somewhere that the dish ony has to be out a fraction to lose signal, i grabbed the dish and shook it, guess what, it worked!
