Sky inputs keep alternating which one isn’t working.

I had been having an issue with the input signals on my sky + box not working thus I kept losing signal to various channels. I followed some online advice and put it down to a single input and this helped for a day or so (although not ideal as I could only record one show at a time and had to be on the corresponding channel for it to do so) then it started acting up again. I put it back to a dual input and it's been very temperamental. Sometimes it's fine, other times one of the inputs isn't working and I lose some channels. (Usually Comedy Central and sky Atlantic). Never the full signal which is weird, just certain channels. Checked the cable connections and they are fine. So I figured that one of the cables must be damaged but I have noticed that when I check the input signals it varies each time if it is input 1 or 2 that is down. So it appears it's not the cable. I have tried resetting the box and nothing has happened.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

@lmoorhouse some faults can affect the signal on particular channels, rather than all channels, so the signal problem might appear on either dish input depending on which channel the dish input is tuned to. For example, if Sky One is affected, the signal problem will show on dish input 1 if it's tuned to Sky One, or dish input 2 if that input is tuned to Sky One.

 

As @Annie+UK posted, the best thing to do is book an engineer who will be able to pinpoint the problem and fix it.
