Turned off Sky+ hd box at the plug on Sunday, when turned on Monday there was a message saying system error - hard disc drive problem. No access to recordings, can't record, catch up not available. Did all the system resets but still the same. Very slow turning channels, limited TV guide information.
I hooked up a spare Sky+ hd box and it was working fine...recording, catch up etc..
Turned box off Monday night and when turned back on Tuesday exactly the same issues as with previous box. Same error message, unable to record etc. Rather strange that two boxes have developed the same issue in 48 hours!!

There's nothing Sky can do to cause a hard disk to fail, if that's what you're thinking!

It's not turned off at the plug often..maybe once a month. The 2nd box was turned on for the first time in weeks and worked fine, then overnight it developed the same issue as the 1st box. Coincidence maybe...but 2 desperate boxes in 48 hours? Phoned sky and they immediately offered an upgrade to skyq at no extra cost.

Be aware that you can't swap back if you don't like it.
